My Young Life

As I begin my blog, I think its only good to share where my life began. I grew up in a rural community of central Alabama, USA. I am from a family of 7, having 2 brothers and 2 sisters. I know it is probably hard to believe in today's age that the school I attended was housed in one building starting 1st grade through 12th! OK, it was a large building!

We lived on a farm raising livestock and having a huge vegetable garden. Yes, my parents milked the cows by hand and churned the milk for butter. I could never get the hang of milking or being a good churner! (I actually have in my possession the churn dasher that my dad made)

My dad was an entreprenuer minded person. He actually had a home based business by selling wooden porch sets and taking them through out the southeast on his Chevrolet pick up truck. Wow, it was always fun seeing him come down the road after he had been away for a week or so.

My mom worked from home by doing in home elderly care. We didn't think of it as elder care then, it was just taking care of people who could no longer see after themselves. Times and terminology have changed!

My siblings and I were just typical kids who lived in the rural south. I will share from time to time some of our adventures!
